Railfanning Seattle's North Portal
Posted by Yard Limit on Thursday, February 2, 2017 12:00 PM

I live up the street from the North Portal in Seattle, so it's easy to railfan there.  The northbound Sounders take commuters up to Edmonds and Everett, and the Eastbound Empire Builder departs around 4:40 PM.  This was the first evening it's been light enough to go down there and catch this action.  To my surprise I also got an oil train and an intermodal train, all within 12 minutes.

Another Dash-9 on a coal train. They seem to be doing that more and more recently.
