Chicagoland motels

I'll be spending a few days the first of October in Chicago, doing some railfanning. Can anyone suggest a motel that might have a view of some rail action?

Subs. Joliet, Blue Island, Dolton, LaGrange, Elmwood and maybe even up to Shiller Park or Bensenville.

For Clinchvalley: If you are going to stay at one of the southside hotel/motels, there is a Hilton at 93rd & Cicero Ave. in Oak Lawn, Il and it has a NS/Metra line that runs past it every day. The Metra runs between downtown Chicago and out to 183rd & 88th ave in Orland Park, Il. The NS which also runs out on those tracks only go to about 103rd and Ridgeland Ave. where they transfer onto the Indiana Harbor Belt/CSX tracks and run northwest. Other roads going to NS also come south on the IHB/CSX and transfer onto the NS and come northeast to the entrance to the NS yard (aka Landers Yard) at 79th and Kedzie ave. Hope this helps some. Yours truly, ralph zimmer n9kym@aol.com
