Maryland Midland Railway

I live near the Maryland Midland Railway, and would like more information on it. Having driven a portion of the line, I've found some good photo spots, but am having trouble determining what if any schedule MM trains run on. Does anyone have a timetable or any tips on when a good time to spot a train would be? Any other information on the MM would be greatly appreciated as well, I've found the railway's corporate website, but haven't been able to locate much else.

Have you tried the MM HQ at Union Bridge MD? It is across the street from the Western Maryland Historical Society.Someone there might be able to help you.They seem to be nice folks.You also might want to ask for permission to take photos of the yard & enginehouse.The MM has some neat Locos & Rolling stock in the yard.Hope this helps.Happy Railfanning!!!

Hawkeye, I'd be interested in anything you find out about schedules as well! I live in New Windsor and the morning freight comes through here toward Westminster around 10 AM, give or take a few minutes. I caught it the other morning but sadly, it was the leased HATX engines rather than my favorite blue and orange!

If you're in the area, you may have noticed that there's an incomplete spur from the main east of Union Bridge that leads up to the Lehigh plant. When I was over that way yesterday, I noticed that there's a car fulls of rails sitting there, so maybe they're getting ready to finally fini***hat section and end the street running in the middle of Union Bridge.

Thanks for the tip MaryMac, I've been out by that incomplete spur and was wondering when it would be completed. I'll have to head out there again to take a look.

I was raised near Westminster and there was a morning and evening train that would go thru. I think it was 10 am and 5 pm with a train or two thrown in.

Most certainly in the evenings a train will go thru. Note that at Random House on Englar Road you can find the concrete remains of the old WM watering tower for steam engines about 10 yards from the road.

Union Bridge has the Lehigh cement plant. There are railcars that gets delivered there. The cement gets delivered to area Ready Mix plants up to 300 miles away.

Search for the Maryland Midland on the internet, they have a website. I dont know the url right offhand.
