Improved Filter Trees
Posted by craftygal on Monday, November 19, 2007 8:03 AM
I first read about the furnace filter trees here many months ago but no-one has mentioned brush and vine work with these filters.  I give the edge of the new filter a 1/8 to 1/4 inch trim working my way around each side and the result is long thin peices of filter materal that can be glued side by side to coat almost any structure or hill side.  When I want trees I can just work these and the end twigs off of my berry bushs to my hearts content and get a very individualized tree be it maple or fir or ancient oak.  I work in N-scale but I am always discarding twigs that are "too much HO" for my liking.  I keep a small gathering basket, gloves  and loppers in the trunk so any trip becomes a scenic adventure.
