I went out on Friday to scout the Minnesota Prairie Line Railroad (MPLI) and
followed the line from Norwood Young America to Redwood Falls, MN and
even though I didn't catch any trains, I did find their engine house in Morton
and discovered a LOT of excellent spots for photography. I'll wait until it's the
dead of winter up here, after a good snowfall and wait a few days for the roads
to be cleared and head-out there again to try to snap some shots. The
landscape is cold and forbidding (looks like Siberia in the winter with the
crops harvested) but it'd make for some great composition for a train photo of
that segment of the old M&StL.

Anybody know the general operating schedule for that line? The MPLI is
doing a good business last I heard (much better than in the days when the
MCTA operated that line). I'd head SW from Norwood and keep going on
Hwy. 5 & Hwy. 19 until I see something on a work day but it'd better if I knew
something of their timetable. I wrote to the parent TC&W office in Glencoe
asking for info and got zippo.
