As a kid, I went each summer to visit my grandfather who lived in Shelbyville KY, a small town about 30 mi east of Louisville KY. Two freight lines ran through town -- an L&N line on the north side and a Southern line on the south side. My grandfather's street ended at the Southern line, and I used to run down many times a day to watch the trains there.

Now I have a 3 1/2 year old who also crazy about trains, and I will get a chance for a brief visit & to swing by Grandpa's house (he, alas, is long gone) for the first time in many, many years. Does anyone know what the frequency (or better yet theapproximate times) of freights on this line on a weekday (I'll be there Columbus Day -- do such holidays have an effect on freight)?

Thanks for any help

Scott's Dad
