The Town of Old Saybrook, Connecticut has asked the State DEP to give the town, the tracks on which many New Haven Railroad and other New England "Fallen Flag" rail equipment rests. The town is demanding the hand over of a small rail yard owned by the DEP, leased to the Valley Railroad, who in turn allows the RMNE (Railroad Museum of New England) to store some rare pieces of equipment there. Among the partially restored "scrap metal" as the First Selectman of Old Saybrook put it, is one of the last EF-4/E-33 electrics, WWII troop sleepers, and many other RARE pieces of 50+/- year old freight, passenger, and motive equipment. The RMNE is currently in negotiations but may be forced to remove the equipment via an approximately 80 mile trip on the P&W Freight Railroad Co. to Thomaston, CT.

Should the Museum be forced to remove the equipment for a proposed recreation area they will need volunteers & funds to help inspect, prep, and ship the equipment.

If you are interested please visit; www.RMNE.org

THANK YOU!
