Guys,

I was wondering if you could help me out a little bit. I've been working tech support at a company for a couple of years, over the last year my skill set has changed along with my job considerably and I am more involved with the Development side of things. Seems like a strange topic here but its not really. I want to further develop the skills that I have and as I am still considered a tech support guy rather than a developer the opportunities are not coming my way in the workplace.

I have tried developing various software items under my own steam however they where not very interesting so I figured I'd come looking for inspiriation here. Is there any applications that Railroading fans would like to see and really use or any applications out there that kind of cover your needs but don't truely fullfill them?

I was thinking about building something for myself so I could stash away information on my N-Scale collection when this sprung to mind. I'd also considered building a sound program that would allow you to push Sound Affects through your PC speakers on demand like some of the items I have seen in Model Railroader Mag.

Let me know, I'm not in this for the cash -- the idea of giving away usefull, quality software for free to a community that has done so much to help me get started on my own layout appeals to me.

Reply to this thread or drop me an email at webdude@life4ever.org.

Thanks much,

And remember - if you would like to use it - its probably not a bad idea.

Thanks folks,

James Starritt
