TRAINS December 2022 Issue
Posted by samfp1943 on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 6:06 PM

1 Dec2022- All SAINTS Day.. The latest issue of TRAINS arrived; always a welcome read.  Noticed the article by Keit Fender and David Lassen on the hydrogen powered train sets, due for service in Cali; ZEMU's built by Stadler [del in 2027].  I am reminded of the 37 Krauss-Maffei M400's built between 1961amd 1969 for S.P. and D.R.G.&Wrains ran a reall ince article on their testing; I think it was in Switzerland (Semmering Pass(?). Maybe we'l get some rer-delivery on the new hydrogen power equipment.  Not muchhas been shown on the M&PP's Statler supplied equipmet(and Snow Blower?).

The article by Bob Lettenberger,"A Few Days With A Friend" was both descriptive, and interesting.  A cab ride, in something like 4014 has got to be memorable!   In November of 1991, while standing by the shanty at Kentucky St., and (nee(?) Railroad Ave. at Memphis;    UP's 3985 pulled up for a short-stop; to pick up a pilot, to take it into MoPac's(UP's) Sergent Yard, to overnight. The MoPs pilot that had brought 3985 from Arkansas stepped down for a noment. He was soot covered, and dirty; but he had the biggest smile, and experssion on his face (Memorable!).  He was having a ball. Smile, Wink & Grin They(3985) had had a problem coming into Memphis; The steam air ventilator nozzle fitting in the smoke box broke apart. Required a day to rerpair, re-fuel, rewater,re-fire,[3985's repairs were done at the former NC&StLRR's Station site @Lenox Station- Eastern end of UPRER's track in Memphis] and then on to CSX,for the trip to Clinchfield's Santa Train event.   The rest of the issue seems t have a lot in it; what with the current upcoming, union and plitical crisis' on our event horizons.  Sigh Sigh  Bang Head

Hence, All Hallows Eve...  November 1...

Good issue, though.  Haven't gotten too deep into it, yet.
