Also, this is a bike path now, encourage you to explore the impressive grade and how the TMER&L handled it. The bike path is mostly on the ROW but the ROW diverges to the right.......... right before Highway 83. The first grade up from Pewaukee Lake is really impressive.
BTW, the reason Pewaukee Lake is primarily EAST-WEST and the other lakes to the West are NORTH-SOUTH was they were different glaciers. Pewaukee lake was carved out from a Lake Michigan Glacier and the farther west Nagawicki Lake next to Highway 83 was carved out by a glacier from the North. The hilly topography or drammatic change in elevation West of Pewaukee Lake in the immediate area is because roughly that is where the glaciers met.
BTW, of the former TMER&L right of way. Highway 83 was an at grade railroad crossing with a station stop shanty next to it. A little further North the crossing over Highway C was a large wood trestle.
