Intrigued by the write-up about Port Kent, NY featured in the article entitled "Amtrak Stops Where" in September's magazine, I journeyed up to this tiny NY community and videoed the arrival of the southbound and northbound Adirondack:

Man, I loved this video. Especially the little girl and the man boarding the NB train. I was in northern Vermont the first week of August for a bike ride on the Missiquoi Valley Rail Trail (ex - CV branch line St. Albans to Richford) and the Island Line (ex - Rutland main line) in Burlington. I was tempted to take some time and cross the lake by ferry and watch the Adirondack arrivals and departures but decided on other things instead. Now I wish I had done the trip. For those who haven't made this little excursion I would suggest not waiting too long. Not only is the Adirondack threatened by Amtrak's PTC mandate but the Lake Champlain ferries are down to only two or three departures per day between Burlington and Ft. Kent and a rumour has it that they may abandon this seasonal route. I was up there many years ago (mid-70s) and there was nothing but a small strip of pavement and a sign. Parking was down the hill at the ferry wharf. I can see that alot of improvements have been made since then.
Nice Video, I am in Plattsburgh, and sometimes railfan there.
