Kyle RR in Kansas
Posted by bnsf2099 on Sunday, January 10, 2016 7:17 PM

I'm going to be taking a trip in the near future and was thinking about following the Kyle RR from Colby to Belleville, KS.  Any chance of seeing anything (parked or moving)?

Not sure where you will be in Kansas, but last July we were returning from Colorado and passed thru Great Bend, Ks. which was a pretty busy location on the K&O.  There were two trains working (10am) and a very nice looking coaling tower still in place.  Not sure if this fits your schedule, but there were trains.

Phillipburg (shops, operating HQ) , Goodland, Beloit, Norton, Concordia

They run a daisy chain with locals between Limon-Goodland, Goodland-PBurg, P-Burg - Belleville/Salina or Concordia-Stockton...almost all the locals run at night so ag industry can work in daylight.

Downs, KS has a GP-7 stuffed and mounted (static display) in old MoP paint. (Think the Jeep is ex-NYC ....Painted to run long hood first.)

K&O I have no problem finding out about. I work for them out of Wichita. Was planning on going through there any way.
