CSX might have gotten the DE coal gondola trains from CN because CN/GTW is often packed for several hours in the day and the night.

It is interesting that they still have to get back on the CN/GTW for the final delivery.

The Lansing, Michigan area bound Lansing Board of Water and Light unit gondola trains have been frequent on the CN/GTW in the past few years.

I believe, but am not positive, that CSX was given trackage rights on CN to service DTE plants south of Detroit.

CSX runs coal trains bound for Detroit Edison's plants.  I do not know if the NS does or not.

After the Detroit Edison unit coal trains leave the BNSF tracks in the Chicagoland area, they have to get onto CSX then head up through Indiana into Michigan on their way to the Detroit area, or the unit trains have to be routed onto Norfolk Southern pass through Indiana and Ohio, before going North to the Detroit area.

Which tracks would the DEEX and DETX coal gondolas be seen on, CSX or NS?

Thank you.

Hasn't been more than a couple of weeks ago that we had a DE unit train go thru here.  And late last year, they were a regular staple on our line.  Weather has not permitted much train watching past 2 mos.

During the 1990's there were numerous unit coal trains of Detroit Edison aluminum gondolas that had the DETX and DEEX reporting marks that traveled over the Grand Trunk Western railroad tracks in Michigan.

Now the unit coal trains for Detroit Edison have been displaced by others.

Have the Detroit Edison coal trains moved to NS or CSX?

Thank you.
