I was also reading that today was also the anniversary of John Glenn being the first US person to be sent into orbit around the Earth - in 1962.
I remember watching the blast off from Study Hall when I was in school.
Never too old to have a happy childhood!
Very sad too for the train crew...no doubt its something they were helpless to prevent yet will stay with them forever.
Truly sad. Involuntary thoughtless killing is still not as bad as fanatical deliberate killing!
One year ago today, Camera Assistant Sarah Jones was killed when the film crew of which she was a part was struck by a CSX freight train. The crew had set up for filming on the CSX bridge over the Altamaha River, near Jesup, Georgia, and Sarah and others were unable to reach safety in time. The Production Company had not obtained permission from CSX to use that location.
Four people, including the Director, First Assistant Director, and members of the Production staff, have been charged with Involuntary Homicide. Jury selection is scheduled to begin March 9, 2015.
OSHA has assessed fines against the Producton Company for workplace safety violations. Civil suits have also been brought, but have not yet been resolved.
RIP Sarah.
