Howdy,

Just wondering about and looking for any information on the restoring of a GG1 at the Henry Ford Museum. Understanding that funding and volunteers are always needed has anything been done in regard to this? I sent a request for information on status to the museum a couple of years back and was told it was a work in progress subject to: funding and volunteers.

Thank you,

Jim K.

To Jim K:   Not a heck of a lot on that specific GG- at Greenfield Village since, a last post in 2008(?).

Thre is apparently some information in that area of the Preservation of Railroad Locomotives.  and one apparently is available for someone with the interest and deep pockets(?) See link @ http://www.rypn.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=32554&start=75

In March of 2008 there was this article and Posts about the sale of 4909 to the Henry Ford Museum; remarks that the unit had been sitting in Milford, NY for a long time and was apparently in need of a lot of T.L.C. (?)

The latest information, I was able to find by Google Search was from April 2008 and it does concern the 4909 that is slated for the Henry Ford Museum.

Maybe, someone from that area of Cooperstown or Milford, or the Ford Museum can supply current information on 4909 and its status?

The last thing I think I remember reading in TRAINS was that the 4909 was on a siding in Western NY State and was awaiting a decision on its movement to the Museum in Michigan.. Then  nothing else...
