blue streak 1Maybe all railfans don't have snowshoes and / or snow mobile ?
Travel bans tend to cramp one's style...
Not to mention having to dig out your own driveway.

trackrat888 In Buffalo after they got whacked with 20 feet of snow I checked railroad.net and the New York State regional forums and nothing nada zilch. Buffalo BTW has plenty of rabid railfans who would eat up the op to photo a Flanger in action at Bison and Frontier.

There's evidence that the local Jordan Spreader has been out up our way.

caldreamer Utube has some great snow plow videos. Go to http://www.utube.com and search for railroad snow plows. There is a great one of a snow plow getting stuck in the snow. Ira

Are you aware that you posted a link to a company called "Universal tube & roll-form Equipment"?
Did you mean to link to "Youtube" instead ?:

Just saw a nice shot of a red wedge plow bucking about three feet of snow at speed, part of NBC's national coverage on the current deep freeze. No indication where or which railroad. Flying snow obscured the car sides.

CSX took their rotary to Buffalo a few weeks ago when they got exceptionally hammered. Haven't seen any pictures of it in action. I suspect it was more to clear special trackage (yards, etc) than the mainline.
A lot of the heaviest snow has been in the Northeast...from a railroad M.O.W point of view heavy snow in the Northeast is generally an order of magnitude less than what happens out West which is why,for freight railroads anyway, often the snowplows on the front of the locomotives are sufficient for even blizzard situations..
But this Phoitographer does have some pics from a few days ago of Russell snow plows operating on Pan am rail:

There's a great video of some plow action in a thread called "Dashing Through the Snow", now on page 2 of this forum. Check it out!

The lack of any pictures or videos of RR snow plow operation this exceptional snow season has not been posted on the usual sites. Anyone here have any information or pictures ?.
