With the help of CShaveRR directions I was able to make it over to the Eola Yard Saturday (Before the Snowstorm) went from Farnsworth Ave. to Dearborn to McClure. The Crossing at M.P. 35.25 has been removed for some time now and you can pull up to a barrier and park. A fellow Rail Fan in a Van was there when I got there. No Tresspassing signs are to the right and on the barrier. Good photo access to the yard and I did not hear any calls on the scanner to check out who was at the barrier. I decided to check out the other side of McClure. Farnsworth to Mountain to McClure is where the offices are, parked at city auto parts lot at the end. Saw some good stuff in the 2 hours I was there. Parked over by the offices BNSF 512 GE B40-8W in war bonnet paint, BNSF 3019 EMD GP40M in BN Green /white, BNSF EMD GP38-2 set up for remote control.Metra,Amtrak went by along with 2 long consist. Last check of DOT 079554A says the crossing was closed in 2009, much safer now for railfans.

LaGrange is on my list, let me know when you can make it, of course I'll need your great directions to get there.
My oldest photos at West Eola include BN E units on commuter trains. Seems like yesterday. The crossing was open and active then.

Will do...I usually combine trips to LaGrange with shopping at Trader Joe's and lunch out--either at Noodles, Back Alley, or Smashburger. I'll make sure you know when we're headed that way again (might not be for a few weeks). There's also a hobby shop there...not like it was 'way back when, but with Al's in Elmhurst being gone, it's one of the better ones again.
Sounds like a excellant Rail Fan day.
