OK, I'm late in the game here, but...
If it's a female I'd call her "Katy".
We named one of our racing Greyounds after Kate Shelley. When we brought her home to be a house pet after her track days were done we called her "Katy".
Scarlett O'hairball- I love it! My cat purrs all the time, sometimes I call her "Buzz bomb."

May I suggest that since Frisco is such a great name for a cat (for several reasons that come to mind), why not consider naming his successor Frisco, as well?
I once knew a man in New Haven (he died at like 106) who had a succession of cats, each of whom he named Pepper. He never had to stop and think what the cat's name was (like I do sometimes, but then I have four) and I think every new Pepper took away the sting of the loss of the previous Pepper.
I've not done this myself and it's only a suggestion. But I like the name Frisco a lot. Btw, if the new cat was a purebred his papers might show his more formal breeder name to be not Frisco but St. Louis and San Francisco, instead.
This was a wonderful thread to read; best luck to your parents.
For the state of Kansas, you can call the cat "Santa Fe".
Little Frisco passed away at home late Tuesday. My parents were spared on having to make the dreaded trip back to the vet. I want to thank all of you for name suggestions. I showed this post to my dad. Wanting to keep the Frisco link alive, two names stand out as a direct link to not only Frisco history but Santa Fe as well: Fred and Harvey. He is thinking towards Harvey when that time arrives. Thanks Paul North for that suggestion and pray that dad can soon receive another gift. He misses his little buddy
Did anybody suggest Kate Shelley?
(Maybe that could be Cat Shelley).
Actually, that reminds me of the train robber, Cat Ballou.

Wizlish, that was funny as hell! Now I know why the interwebs was invented.
Boxcar Whiskers..
Back when we had cats (too many once or twice), one was named "Chessie," or sometimes "Chesapeake."
Another was called "Turbo Traina," but that was shortened to "Traina" in general usage.
I'm not really a cat person, so any pets that get added to this household in the future will be dogs, and may very well have a fire-themed name (Gamewell being one possible choice).

One railfan I encountered, who put on layout shows a few times a year in San Bernardino, CA, named his cats with sequence numbers. He was up to No. 19 a number of years ago, but I haven't seen him for a while, and have no idea what number he is at now.

From Wiki on Gato Class subs: Gato 's name comes from a species of small catshark.
From Wiki you will also find that Gato is spanish for cat.
I suggested the name from a junction on the D&RGW NG line between Chama and Durango.
Boomer.. or maybe Richard Parker.
Paul North, I was going to suggest Pennsy after I thought about it. My current cat is named Miss Hudson. Actually Miss Vera-Lynn Hudson the Fourth. What can I say? I do think that "Miss Vera IV" would look amazing in gold leaf on the transom of a mahogany Chris-Craft and there's something wrong with you if you don't love those!
Susie Q is what we named our youngest cat. After the RR and the song.
And like all of the 4 cats we now have, she will come when called.
