The White Pine Trail in Michigan is over ex-PRR roadbed from Cadillac south to Comstock Park (just north of Grand Rapids--94 miles total), which I strongly suspect would take most bikers more than a day to traverse. If that isn't long enough, a few miles over streets in and around Grand Rapids could connect you to rail-trails headed south to Byron Center (the Kent trails, most of which are on old NYC right-of-way) or northwestward to Muskegon (again, nee-PRR--the Musketawa Trail, 24 miles). I've been on both of the latter two, but not on the White Pine trail.

I don't know how these trails' lengths compare to that of the Katy Trail, which crosses most of Missouri, and I'm sure that there are trails, or networks of trails, that are even longer, in other parts of the country.

I would like to see most of the Erie Converted into a trail west of Hornell.
There are some lightly used sections taken over by shortlines but those are single track and could have a trail next to them

Much or the formal CASO subdivision-Fort Erie to Windsor On, has been riped up and the whole subdivision was over 200 miles long.

You don't say how far you're willing to roam to ride. I just know you won't find the longest in Indiana as r/w is hard to get thanks to one judge's ruling against the railroads and rail-to-trails. Most trails are lucky to make it 30 miles.

Have you hit rails-to-trails' website??

....We are on the ex. CSX RoW and now converted to our Cardinal Greenway Trail of which now has about 27 miles of paved surface completed....Trail owns about 60 miles of RoW and is in process each season of working to get it all paved....Roughly Richmond to Marion, In. Here in Muncie we have a beautiful Trail Head Depot resurrected from the long abandoned CSX RR. Depot. Now, once again a beautiful building....even lit up at night and presents a great image.

Don't know the exact distance but two in the Northwest come to mind the former SP&S between Pasco and Spokane and the former Milwaukee Road over Snoqualmie Pass to the Columbia River and Othello to Avery the old roadbed is mostly intact on both of these former lines.

I believe the longest rail-trail in N.A. would be along the former narrow gauge CN track through the province of Newfoundland. There is also a rail-trail on the former CN tracks through Prince Edward Island in Canada.?????????????????????????

Further to my previous message re the longest railtrail in North America........Surely the Newfoundland trail has to be the longest...883 km. (547 miles) 95% over the abandoned narrow gauge rr line..........CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING IS GREAT IF YOU LIVE IN A SMALL COUNTRY>
