What is that train movie?

They might have been, there are only a few shots of the train, and they go by fast. I'll have to look more closely the next time it comes on. They wanted to give the impression of superliner cars though, and the interior sets were not too bad.

In that scene where he climbs out the window, you can see that it was the only one modified on the train. To an "untrained" mind or eye it would go unnoticed.[swg]

Rent it, it's some good martial atrs action, and it's fun to pick apart the train stuff[:p]

Under Seige II

I liked the movie but the railroading was unrealistic. My criticism is that while Hollywood does great with the special effects, it conveys to the average person not familiar with railroading that passenger train travel is unsafe. To top it off, there have been numerous head on collisions since the late 80s, (looks like UP has had the lion's share) but in dark territory, the safety procedures are very rigidly enforced!

Those of you here that are railroaders if you could, elaborate on the procedures in dark territory (areas where there is no signaling)? I don't know which TRAINS article of the past covered them.

Here is a movie that I can't believe I acctually watched. The acting was horrible and it was acctually geared towards kids, I lived through it just to watch the trains. I'ts "587, The Great Train Robbery" Anyone seen it? If not, Lucky you.

Emporer of the North is an excellant movie.

Chattanooga Choo Choo is not really a train movie, but it does have a nice shot of the turntable at the Calif. State RR Museum with the SP's "I" Street bridge in the background at the end.

You want a better train movie, its got to be ...Runaway Train with John Voight, here is a part that I think Voight played extremely well.... set in Alaska. Some corny stuff but compared to Segals thing, now second to that I vote for Danny Glover & jarod Leto in Switchback ...lots of Rio Grande action in the snow towards the end.
But most likely my favorite is Emperor of the North with Erenst Borgnine, I think that was his part and made is career. He just didn't want any darn Hobo on his train during the depression. I think they made a sequel but I have never seen it. I doubt its better than Emperor.
And a good honor, maybe should be in the top 3 tied with Switchback is a movie where 2 older guys hijack a EMD diesel fromt he line they work for & to the RR's headquaters to talk to the President about closing some of the lines down and putting guys out of work which was planned in a coporate greed move. Can't remember the name of that one, no action just a human interest movie_drama_humor -

The worst, by far is the Chattanooga choo-choo,...... if that comes on anywhere near you
run for your life the other way.

Too bad they couldn't have found some better looking motive power than repainted (what looked like) GP9 units (two of them I recall). The paint job was good but they would have looked a lot better had they been F40PH units or something like that (too much to think about E-9 units), but we can dream, can't we.

I agree with DThomajko: I believe it's "Under Seige 2". I always had to put out the
movies at KMart, and got to, at times, read the synopsis on the back of the video
cover.

I was watching a train movie staring Steven Segal, I think. What is this movie. The train was going from like Denver to somewhere and the train was cool looking. It was maroon in color looked like what a modern Pennslyvania Railroad train would look like. You know anything about this movie or what im talking about?
