This happened to a CSX crew going through Chicago Heights, IL about two weeks ago. As the train approached a crossing in Chicago Heights the crew noticed not one, but two cars trying to go around the gates. Only one problem, two cars cannot go around crossing gates in opposite directions at the same time!!!! Well, there is now a head on collision right in the middle of the tracks with a train approaching. The two drivers (no passengers) are fine, get out of their cars to argue at one another. Instead of looking down the tracks at the oncoming train and moving their cars, they decide to continue agruing. Well, too late for the cars, the train can't stop in time and now both cars are totalled, no injuries (except for the cars). In my eyes, stupid is as stupid does. Both those idiots got exactly what they deserved. They both ended up with $500 tickets for going around the gates and they lose their cars!!![:D] And best yet, the crew didn't have to experience any unnecessary loss of life.
