Anyone remember the Wabash main across Missouri?

For obvious reasons, I can't, the N&W- WAbash merger took place about 25 years before I was born. Was it double-tracked west of the Mississippi River? <br /> It's single track today, but there are a lot of double track lines that are now cut down to one track. Was the Wabash's crack train, the <i>Cannonball</i> pulled by class P-1 Hudsons or E units in the 1940's? <br /> <br />thanks in advance, <br />Christopher
