To anyone working or knowing employees of Trains and fellow magazines, are there any possible opportunities for historical research available at your offices? I am a senior in college with a major in creative writing, thinking about my career. My parents have told me that one likely opportunity for me would be in historical research and, of course, writing. I also enjoy studying history (especially local history of a particular area) and geography, and it just dawned on me that working for some publication like Trains would be right up my alley. Are such positions, if they exist, permanent or just part-time?

Since I'm only graduating this June, and my plans are still kind of up in the air, this isn't a final request. I would like to express my interest again, though. Also, I live in Southern California. However, I don't really mind the cold or snow. In fact, I've very much enjoyed the Midwest from what I've seen of it, particularly Chicago, the Wisconsin countryside (and the uncomparable House on the Rock), so I wouldn't at all mind living in the Milwaukee area.
