There was a major train wreck just before 6 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 8, 2008 just northeast of Augusta, Kansas. It is about a mile east of Augusta. This is on the BNSF main line where there is double track.

One train ran into the back of another train as both were going west. Then at about the same time a third train going east ran into the first accident. Two people where hurt but not seriously. Thirty-nine cars are reported derailed.

This is a link to pictures and story from KSNW-TV, Ch. 3 in Wichita. They have some pretty good aerial photos and link to video. http://www.ksn.com/news/local/13731397.html

KAKE-TV, Ch. 10 in Wichita also has a pretty good video report with some pretty good on the scene video and a short printed story.
