I sure am glad the diner is still open. That coffee smells good, and I hope there's a slice of pecan pie left over. This diner can really be a wonderful place to hang out especially when the weather is frightful as it has been today. Here in Reno/Carson, we have had sustained winds of 70 mph with gusts up to 90 mph. So far, the tally is 4 semi's blown over and my green trash can with wheels is probably about 4 streets over along with a bunch of other folks trash cans. I also heard that a U.P. freight derailed in the mountains around Portola. The winds in the mountains have been at 100 to 120 today and that apparently was a factor. First report said no injuries, just a big mess.

So now the rain is pouring down and sometime tomorrow will change to snow. I heard the news of President Fords' death at 93. He was a great person who I had the privilege to meet several times when I worked at Eisenhower Medical Center some years back. I think the country would have been better off if he would have won the presidential election in 1976.

C.W., you are a treasure for the folks who call this diner home. It's getting late, and time to meander home.....................
