Little things I am thankful for tonight:

1. After flying through Denver twice a week every week for the last four months, Thursday I happened to be at a different railroad's terminal, so I went through Houston instead. The plane went down for mechanical as we were boarding but because Continental had cancelled its Denver flight it had a spare 737 it could reallocate to our flight. Thanks guys! I walked off the concourse at 0300 Friday morning and my wife was there to meet me with a big hug.

2. I don't have to go to work again until tomorrow afternoon.

3. No one from the railroads has called today! Or e-mailed! The big boss sent an e-mail but it doesn't need a reply until tomorrow.

4. The house is warm, pie is cooking in the oven, and I even had time to go to church this morning.

5. The next three weeks are all on the road, 15 hour days and hotel rooms in eight different cities, lots of arguments and grumpy people, lots of tramping around outside in snow, rain, mud, and wind, but I'm not complaining because I am fortunate to have a job that puts food on our table and a roof over our heads. Lots of people who want to work can't get a job, or a job that pays enough to take care of their family. No one is trying to kill us just for going to work, either.

S. Hadid
