Milwaukee Circus train

The news reported that the "Great Circus Parade" of Milwaukee, which had been held every summer, has been cancelled due to lack of funds.

Because of this, the Circus train will not run next year [:(].

What will happen to all the circus train equipment is unclear.

The flatcars and Pullman cars used in the Circus Train are owned by the Circus World Museum in Baraboo. Wisconsin & Southern provides extra coaches for VIP's and paying customers.

I haven't heard about the cancellation, but the parade is underwritten by Strong Mutual Funds. Probably has something to do with the economy.[:(]

That is a shame. [|)] I bet many people will be dissapointed. [:(]

I bet rebelfdl is right. Mutual funds as well as stocks aren't doing too well. If it wasn't for the fact that I manage to put more into my 401K than the bull can loose I would be going backwards. But the bull is doing a fine job of loosing plenty for me. [:(!]

Maybe another company or a group of companies could work together and the show still go on. [:o)] We can hope.

The local newspaper reports that the reason for the cancellation is that the Circus World Museum has suffered budget cuts and they no longer have the staff to run their museum AND plan for a circus train and parade. It may well be that the problems at Strong Funds (which sponsored the train including the steam locomotive of two years ago) played a role. This is a great pity -- it would not be easy to start this thing up again once the staff that knows how to do it is dispersed. If you never saw the train or the parade you missed out on an astounding recreating of history. One year something like 700 horses were involved, including a wagon pulled by a forty horse hitch.
