Obviously I wasn't! "I plead ignorance, madam, sheer ignorance." Kansas City-MCI I believe is the last major airport built before screening was implemented, so it's very shallow between passenger drop-off drive and jetways (as is much of DFW).  As a result the terminal is long and thin.  I was tired, and didn't want to walk, and it was there, and ... um, the sun was in my eyes ... OK, these are lousy excuses.
