<P>So, aside from the RRs opposing the widening of the Panama Canal (for business reasons), what do you suppose the impact of these larger ships will have on the RR industry?  The figure "35 miles of double-stacks" has been cited.  Will double-stack trains leaving the Port of LA/Long Beach now be 2 miles long (tongue firmly in cheek)????</P> <P>Riprap</P>
