The CSX 5200s and 5300s do not have the "steerable" trucks that the earlier engines had. Also, that "lightning bolt" painted on the side of a CSX engine denotes an AC traction motor; the 5200/5300 are DC so they don't have that. <br /> <br />These engines do not perform as well as the earlier AC engines, besides the lower horsepower (4400 vs 6000), the DC traction motor system seems to take forever to "load up," both for accelerating and for dynamic braking. Combined with the old-style conventional control stand (vs the "desktop" control stand on other road units), these new units are not as popular with the engineers as older units. But, hey, they are more efficient, and they are replacing the older "musclecars" on many New England runs.
