Spotted an interesting sight at ~5:45 PM Friday afternoon in Bellwood, IL. It was on what looked to be a southbound CSX train on the IHB tracks south of UP-Proviso Yard. Right behind the two CSX locos were three rather weathered-gray-looking F-units (F7's??)! I couldn't tell if they were running (probably not), nor could I see if there were any MU cables connected anywhere (again, probably not), but it sure was eye-catching in this day and age. Based on the "AC" lettering toward the rear of each, plus the graphic of what looked to be a bear alongside the "AC", I'm assuming that they were, at least at one time, Algoma Central units. The first one was #1761 (a B unit), followed by #1755 and #1751 (both A units, and both facing forward). Anybody know anything about these and where they were headed?

They are FP9's and an F9B from Algoma Central, acquired from VIA Rail and were originally CN units. Destination is unknown.
The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul

You might want to view a picture of these units at the Barr Yard in Riverdale on August 31 by going to www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.phd?id=30586
Hope this helps. Jim

Whoops, the link I gave you will only get you to the Railpictures web site and then you can search for pictures of these units there, as there are several shown on the site...sorry for the trouble. Jim

When CN took over the AC and WC, you knew this was going to happen.

Those are the ones in the "Railpictures" photo. Here's a question - if they were photographed at Barr on 8/31, howcomewhyizzit that they're being taken back south out of Proviso (back to Barr?) two weeks later? The configuration in that photo is exactly what I saw last week in terms of loco position and orientation.
If it helps anyone identify just what train they were in, it was 5:45PM CDT on 9/12/03, and the CSX train was going south on the IHB tracks that run parallel to, and just west of, 25th Avenue crossing over the Eisenhower expressway at the south end of Bellwood, IL.
