Mkie, <br /> <br /> The cabosse is a transfer caboose used mainly in yard service(doesnt ventrue far from home) and in this case is used for a backup move, the conductor is watching the ROW ahead of him and probably has to flag a few crossings. This type of cabosse is rare these days in most places. Hope this helps and LONG LIVE THE ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!
