A Full report from Deshler
Posted by JoeKoh on Saturday, August 23, 2003 6:58 PM
Hi
Going to Deshler started fine as we spotted a Loram work train in the siding in Defiance. At crossroads park a guy had a computer showing where all the trains were.Csx was still being affected by the worm.Crews were going dead and some trains moved slowly. We ate at the commuinity park and had HUGE onion rings and yummy elephant ears(matt says ha mookie). We then checked the train layouts and historical society museum. We caught a northbound frieght and then a westbound/eastbound meet. What a sight!!!!For some reason they have the B&O caboose at another park.Ohio state Represenitive Jim Hoops was walking his dog and took a picture with me mamma and Matt.I'm thinking this is a great day.[:D]

Deshler Ohio-crossroads of the B&O Matt eats your fries.YUM! Clinton st viaduct undefeated against too tall trucks!!!(voted to be called the "Clinton St. can opener").

We went to my brother-in-laws workplace and spotted a southbound Detroit edison coal train being pulled by BNSF power. We caught up with him when he stopped at custar north of deshler. He said they were going to be there a while. We headed for home caught a westbound coal train. We got to Standley(DEF/Henry county line)where a crew went dead there too.Went to Harris road there was a clog too.A mixed frieght was in front of the coal drag.A freight was on track 1 at the crossover. An intermodal crawled through the crossover and a freight came up behind it.I thought they were going to need a traffic cop!after the traffic cleared the coal drag used the crossover to get around the frieght because he was picking up cars at the gm siding in Defiance.I give a tip of my hat to the folks at Deshler for their hospitality and to the people of Csx.I pray this worm goes away for them soon.
as I told the tired crews of all the trains that passed by
stay safe[:I]

So the worm has hit the railroads also. I have been putting alot of O.T. in cleaning up the computers that the state Police use here in Illinios.
Sounds like you and Matt are having a good time. I am surpised your wife came along. In our house, train watching is strictly a guy thing. Hope the weather stay's nice.

Put Matt on telephone books and let him go! And how did Matt know I LOVE elephant ears! Haven't had one since I was a kid, either! There are just some things you shouldn't go that long without!

Sounds like a good weekend.

Maybe some of the wives would go train watching, if someone explained what they were watching. Every train shows me something different to ask about and get explained. It makes for better relationships when you share! I didn't like golf and hockey until someone took the time to explain them to me! Think about it! Just cuz we are female doesn't mean we might not like some quality time with our honey, if he would take the time to explain things! And maybe hold hands at the same time - works for me!
