CSX and Da Mook
Posted by Mookie on Friday, August 22, 2003 6:37 AM
Is anyone having any trouble besides CSX and Da Mook with their computer. I have been frozen, zapped, flipped off, and stymied. I reboot, bang on the mouse and yell a lot. Doesn't help. (I don't have a personal one - I am on a corporate one)

So what really happened on CSX and how bad was it? Or maybe you can't read this in CSX area, cuz you are having the same trouble I am!!!!! Grrrr......

At my moms work the computers went down for almost 24 hours. My mom works at a hospital and when the computers went down hundreds of lives were put in danger. I wi***he freaks that do this stuff would learn that it is not funny!

No problems here or on the computers at work, thankfully (my operating system is too old here). We did lose electrical power for just a blink last night; I understand other people around Chicago were hit harder (it had been the hottest day of the year here; up to 97 in places).

I understand that CSX was the only railroad to have been bugged by that worm. Don't know what that says...

I too had problems with my personal computer going crazy this week, and so did many other people I know. I happen to have the Norton (Systemac) anti-virus program installed in my machine and it kept telling me about my unit having a virus that could not be gotten rid of in the "normal" manner but after reading what seemed like many pages of text I came across a link to a "Worm Removal Tool" by Norton. I clicked on the link and after about five minutes of whirring and blinking, it had gotten rid of the worm and all is (holding my breath here) OK (???????????). Jim

Our puter wonks just told us that in the last 48 hours we have had 5000 hits on our e-mails system that were virus infected. They are deleting any of our e-mail that has been infected. This is getting serious people!

You're not just whistling Dixie, Mookie, no sooner did I write my note above than I got another big note on my screen that my machine had been infected by another "Worm"....you would think that with all those geeks out there wasting time thinking up ways to infect our puters that some of these braniacs could be hired to help develope some sort of electronic shot in the arm to make our puters immune from such crap.

Mookie,

Lady I work with has a husband that works for CSX at Queensgate in Cincinnati in Maintentance and she told me that they could not get trains out because all the signals would not work.

However, she also said that they had 3 derailments in the yard that kept her hubby busy. They were small ones but, thankfully, she said no one got hurt.
