since thirsday of last week i had lerned that some german steam locomotives had 4 cylenders man what a job to maintain them when i road behind wtb 50 2988 whitch was a two cylender 2-10-0 and on sunday they had changed locomotives to db 01 509 a 4-6-2 pacific that was biult for speeding passengers around germany they both performed reall well and sounded verry good. on sunday there is talk in a bout 7 years there will be no steam exscersons except railroad museums but i should get going i am going to see the replica of the adler germanys first steam locomotive so getcha lator the american that is giving german steam truble big boy

....You're mentioning of German steam locomotives with 4 cyl's...reminds me of a German experimental steam locomotive right before WWII had EIGHT cyl's........It was a V-8 configured machine. 4 driving axles each with a V arrangement of cyl's.on the end of the axle and driving that axle hence a total of 8 cyl's. configured in V arrangements. It did run over a hundred miles per hour in tests and was constructed with a streamlined external body. If anyone is interested, go to Google and type in "V-8 Steam Locomotive" and I believe you will bring up the article including photos of it.
