One was several box cars of money being sent back to the mint for destruction. The other was a train load of booze headed for the coast. Guess which one had tighter security?

A couple of years ago, I was standing on the elevated crosswalk to the Metra Electric (I.C.) 18th Street station. A train of hopper cars was coming east on the St. Charles Air Line and heading south past McCormck place. A flock of pigeons landed on one of the hoppers and started pecking at the spilled grain on top. When the car reached the crosswalk, they all took off and flew about 50 yards and landed on another car farther back on the train. They kept this up untl the train passed..
