SOO Line diesels

On a lighter note...

What ever became of the SOO Line? On Sunday Aug 10 I saw two diesels on the BNSF line here in Kansas heading a vehicle train of all brand new articulateds autoracks west. Both were SOO Line and the numbers were 6000somthing. The trees were blocking the view but I think it was 6028 and 6008, maybe. I consulted a Soo railfan website and the roster said these numbers were matched up with SD60 type locomotives. (http://sooline.railfan.net/) Is this true? What were they doing on BNSF waaay down here with no BNSF engines along?

I'm still kicking myself for not taking my camera along and not getting there sooner. I would have liked to have pictures of those.

Sooline is part of the CP system.
CP must have had rights through your part of the woods.
The SD60s were probably the last of the Soo engines.
Sooline is still a holding co. I think.

The Shorham yard in Mpls. used to be Sooline now CP. It is a container yard now. That yard is connected to the BNSF northtown yard. No doubt the Sooline engine came from CP which may have sold it to BNSF or there was a deal done with containers originating with CP from Shorham???
This summer when I went by the northtown yard it was full of stored BNSF engines and almost no cars in the yard. Things have slowed way down in northtown for sure.[:(!]
