Those sabots create a vacumn behind them, they also move so fast plasma forms ont the front of the round it vaproizes armor as it hits. I saw a video where three guys are hidding behind a corner. The tank fires a sabot round down the road not even at these guys. Well, they get sucked right out onto the street in front of the tank, their Gihad ended real quick too.
Wow, the weapons engineers at Picatinny****nal would be surprised to know this.

Is that plasma in front of the tungsten steel or DU penetrator?
Yeah....ummm.....not exactly what happens....the vacuum you describe happens after it pentetrates a vehicle's skin, provided it's enclosed (tank, AFV, etc..)
It is made of depleated uranium, the plasma forms because of the rounds extreemly high velocity creates friction with the air, on the tip of the round. By vacumn I mean it pulls a huge amount of air behind it, not a techinacal vacumn. Now if you really want to stop people you use HEP.
I'm going to have to side with Tom on this issue.........by the way...when you start talking about munitions...and a guy says something like ...I'll talk to the guys at work...down at Picatinny....I'd stop there, when he says what I'm saying is incorrect......that would be kind of like arguing the GCOR with professional railroaders, and legal issues with lawyers..

..oh wait..that's been done too......

Dan
Just to clarify, I was arguing law with a lawyer, but I wasn't arguing about the GCOR specifically....[:)][:D][8D]

Don't know the first things about munitions...I'll stick to oil-fired locomotives.[:)]
