International trade is increasing, period. CN and CP work the Canadian West Coast more intensively with new facilities; and the CP's old boat line, now independent but still called CP Ships, had a big stock run-up this year. Norfolk Southern handles a great deal of coal--including metallurgical to Europe. And I'm sure CSX and UP are doing their very best. BNSF is a great company, but the question to ask should not be, "Should I buy this stock," but rather, "Does this fine company have an inflated stock price that would make the dividends unusually small?"

In the nineteenth century, when people asked the Baron de Rothschild for stock-market advice, he would pull an august pose and reply, "It will fluctuate." That's one of the very few verities about investing in corporate stocks!
