Mr bro says you can get great shots of the UPRR not SPRR from Truckee lake. Is that correct? He also said that I80 has view points where you can stop to see the UPRR. Is that also true? How far further east is Lawton say from Truckee?
SPbed,

You ask such probing questions![:0] No, the SP is gone for good, only to be brought back to life in the minds of its fans through books, videos, photographs and such.

Yes, an approved Espee/ATSF merger would have made me so much happier, it would have been life changing.[:D] Unfortunately, it would have made many shippers unhappy?[:(]

The bro must be speaking of Donner Lake, not Truckee Lake. Yes, from some points on Donner lake you can see the railroad, like Andover on the railroad, but I don't think there are many photo ops from the lake looking up. If there were, you'd need a large, large and very much bigger lens than most carry. There is one view outlook on eastbound I-80 between the Donner Lake Interchange and the first West Truckee interchange where you can see Andover and Shed 47. Again, with a large, I mean giant lens, you may get a shot. From this over-look a view of the snow sheds covering former Track One can be viewed.[V]

If I'm still with this world than, I'd be more than happy to play guide for you.

Jim
