I definitely agree with the responses above. When Chicago's downtown stations are served by both Amtrak and Metra over the same routes, then Amtrak won't let us ride such a short distance. Along with Glenview and Naperville, I believe Homewood on the old IC-Electric has the same caveat. <br /> <br />And Metra is indeed very reliable. A suggestion: call the RTA's toll-free number and ask about travel options. I believe that Metra still has a weekend pass. If that doesn't fit, you can buy a 10-ride ticket in your "zone" (each zone is 5 miles long) and present that on any other line. And there are some great services: when the Ravinia Festival is in season, special trains stop right in the middle of the park! And the Naperville Metra Route has a stop adjacent to the back entrance to the Brookfield Zoo. <br /> <br />Happy training! <br />
