I like to collect magazines and interesting old books, and I use 3 main web sites to look for these things (besides eBay!). There are 2 sites that specialize in used and new books and magazines (and, sometimes, postcards and scrapbooks of clippings, etc.):

http://www.abebooks.com

http://alibris.com

Then there is amazon..com. They recently began to sell used books and magazines. Their search engine does not allow you to specify what time span you are looking for, unlike ABEBOOKS.COM and ALIBRIS.COM. ALIBRIS.COM has a neat "Book Fetch" service that will keep searching for what you want if they do not have it at the time you are looking for it. URL for FAQs:

http://www.alibris.com/bookfetch/help.cfm

With ABEBOOKS.COM, you can deal with the individual seller - or with ABEBOOKS - your choice. With ALIBRIS.COM, you must use a credit card and deal directly with them. I have used both of those sites and been very happy with the results. I even used alibris to find an out-of-print book for work.

NOTE: ! ! I just now looked in both ABEBOOKS.COM and ALIBRIS.COM, as well as AMAZON.COM, and none had any of the issues you are looking for. :( Please do not be discouraged; keep looking, and you will eventually find what you are looking for. ISSUES THAT OLD MAY BE EXPENSIVE !!

Do check eBay - I did just now, and one seller was selling all 12 issues from 1943! Those were MUCH older issues than I found when looking in abebooks and alibris. EBay lised 22 "hits" when I looked for "Trains Magazine". many more than I got with either used-book web site. And you do not have to register with eBay to just look for items. Do put quote marks around those words to force eBay to look for what you want as an EXACT phrase.

Good luck! :)

Margaret
