What was it doing?
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, October 31, 2005 3:07 PM
A week or so ago, I saw a Vermont Railway EMD GP-38 (I think, I'm not very good with identifying yet) and that was it, no cars. It wasn't doing any switching because it was between two towns where trains do pick up and drop off cars. It was just on the single track main line. If you know what it might have been doing, please tell me. Thanks![:)]

A light power move perhaps?

If the locomotive in question was moving, chances are it was on the way to pick up some cars, or maybe it was heading back to it's terminal after doing some work further up the line.

Just saw the same thing (with a -38, too, I think) on the CSX Montreal Secondary. I know it was one of the local switching jobs, so they must have done some deliveries and were headed home empty handed.
