Let it live... I'm going to keep it simple by saying that if it were up to me, I'd keep the trains that were the busiest (NEC), and at least two cross country trains that ran seven days a week. I'd also try and come up with things that would attract people back to train travel. Amtrak use to run through where I live back in the late 80s and early 90s on its route from Dallas to College Station to Houston and back to Dallas, but it didn't stop in my town. There were a lot of people here that would have ridden it if it had stopped, but some idiot in charge wouldn't listen and lost all that revenue, then closed the route because they said there wasn't enough public interest...
