Gasoline Prices.

Just plan your trips to maximize the range of your vehicle over several days to a week and decide which trips are important and not so important.

I recall back in the early 1970's we had a Chrysler that was near 30 feet long and had a monsterous gas tank. At .25 cents per gallon it really hurt to fill that barge up. When the gas hit over .75 and the engine's ability to get good (*GASP!! GOOD!? yea.. if you think 7 miles to gallon is good) gas mileage declined.

That very large cash burner was finally retired simply because it got too expensive to drive. (Or park in the light of the new compact car parking tower craze that swept the inner cities)

I think that gas prices will continue to march towards the 2.50 mark or even 3.00 a gallon. Then we will sort out those who are able to maintain very large vehicles that guzzle gas and those who are willing to reconsider the useage and possibly the model of vehicle used to go about the life.

Eating out every night and buying trinkets 4 times a week in walmart probably will not be as necessary in face of rising gas prices.

There are as previously posted in this thread engines are being produced to run on fuels that are at least burnable. Perhaps finally huge gas costs will pu***he USA towards a serious hybrid or alternative fuel vehicle.

As of right now there are two Foreign import vehicles sold down in Little Rock capable of providing 650-700 miles on 15 dollars worth of gas as well as comfortable environment at highway speeds for about $24,000

I dont yet see a stampede towards similar vehicles. Perhaps today's very large passenger vehicles can be refitted with hybrid drives to give those 50 dollar a tank soccer moms a chance to get thru the week on one fill up.
