CSX 8220 remote control oddity

It's my understanding that the remote equipment was located on the nose like that for fear that if located in the cab, irate engineers would sabatoge it. Less likely when out in the open. <br /> <br />This installation is typical. And when we are saving money eliminating pesky engineers, who cares how crumby it looks?
