I always liked maroon with a second color (i.e., Milwaukee Road's maroon and orange, GM&O's maroon and red with yellow/gold separating stripes, etc.). In Hierarchy, my upcoming novel, one of the main characters rides a "RailTran" passenger train from Chicago to the fictitious town of Midwest City. Paint scheme is maroon and red, separated by white stripes. Colors are in honor of the University of Wisconsin (red) and fictitious Illinois Midwestern University (maroon) which are located on the RailTran line.

John Baie, author, xlibris.com/TwoTrackMain.html
