EJ&E still running?

Does the EJ&E run trains anymore? If so when.Also heard they sold the Joliet yard? If true to who.

They are still running. Got stopped by one in Lake Zurich one night last week. Don't know about the Joliet yard. Haven't heard anything. Do know that Metra is looking into feasibility of running commuter trains on this line.

Thanks, with the steel industry down and there hi cost of switching thought they might have run them selves out of bussiness.

As of yesterday, November 9, 2002, the "J" was alive and well. Went through Joliet Yard on the way to the new BNSF yard at the old army arsenal. Saw a yard job shoving cars into one of the many tracks still in service.

Yep, the "J" is very much alive and well, and the trains blowing for the RT.34 crossing in Aurora in the middle of the night is the proof. They interchange with the BNSF at Eola Yard several times a day, every day, and they just repainted some of their "new" units recently. I don't believe the news of the sale of Joliet yard is true, but would not swear to it.

Some trains have been consolidated, but basically the J is running as usual. Joliet Yard has not been sold. For more on operations, see:
