Well as morseman says "what an education"! I was going to post a note for someone to explain the old journal boxes to me, and here it is. Thanx Guys.

Now, how coincidential all this is here. On Sunday, I was watching a freight train pass my place. I was probably closer then I should have been, but I saw two cars that had blue smoke coming from the wheels. I could smell the smoke as well. It was worse on one, but both concerned me. It should have concerned the railroad I think! I was about a half mile from the HBD just up the line. (I do not have a scanner) I figured if the HBD caught this, the train would have been slowing to stop. But that did not happen. I guess, from what I read here, maybe it needed to detect a problem at the second HBD before they took it seriously.

Could this have been a brake sticking? If so, does the HBD not check and warn about that? Do you think it was a bearing problem?

Further to this, I had my cell phone with me. To be a good citizen as well as a railfan, I called 911and asked for CN police. Well, you can guess how that went. So when I got back to the house, I e-mailed CN to ask them who I should call the next time. To no surprise, I am still waiting for CN to reply. I will not be surprised if I never hear from them.

Any help her guys?
