In the book "New York Central System Diesel Locomotives" The authors Edson, Vail & Smith identify F3's which were used in both freight and passenger service. <br /> <br /> F3A units 3500-3503 and F3B's 3600 & 3601. Built 7/47. Steam generators were removed beginning in 1959.
